Artificer XyMox. Heroic.

Seeds and traps and withering touch… oh my! It really wouldn’t be a good Artificer pull without Vuduz stepping into a trap. He survived this one and so did us (well mostly…). We killed the damn thing and that’s what’s important. Well that and we get to skip most of these bosses on Normal now that we finished the quest.

Kinetic in its continued hybrid server glory is now 5/10H in Castle Nathria. For context, a once server first and top 100ish US or World guild (depending on the content) has managed to make the Top 50. For Horde. On Frostmane. But, like, wut everman im liek alch90, ok?

raider.io shows the casual nature of this situation. again.

I decided to check-in on my fake nemesis guild and it appears they are now 8/10H. According to raider.io, they killed Sludgefist/Council on Sat 1/23, Sun King/Artificer on Wed 1/13, and Lady Inerva on Tues 1/12.

Reminder to like/subscribe/etc to Saji’s Twitch as he provided us with this kill video:

Totally disregard what happens at 3:12 as the healers watch my health expire (ignore that I didn’t use Unending Resolve, but at the same time give me credit for using a healthstone)

Sun King’s Salvation. Heroic.

I suppose it had to happen eventually. We wiped to the Sun King’s Salvation encounter for the first time. Hopefully it’s the last time until a theoretical world in which we increase our numbers to run Mythic content. In case my wording was not clear enough, we killed it on the next pull and we collected purples. In my case, I traded my purples to Vuduz (something about BIS). With this, we moved to 4/10H for Castle Nathria. I feel confident it isn’t a spoiler to say we weren’t done for the night since you had to scroll past the other post to get to this one.

For your inconvenience, here is the kill from Saji’s Twitch (like/subscribe/etc)

Hungering Destroyer. Heroic.

I’m not sure what was more ‘fun’ last night: the one shot on Shriekwing, learning all the fun ways a hunter trap can be broken, or figuring out how much people like walking into traps. But that isn’t what this post is about… we killed a thing, again, and we did it on heroic. For those scoring at home, this makes us 3/10H (yay upgraded item in the Great Vault).

We should have killed another thing, but I guess this is what happens when you get older and it gets late. Very much looking forward to skipping most of the normal bosses so we can spend more time on getting heroic loots.

Huntsman Altimor. Heroic.

Did you know that in the heroic version of this encounter, there are TWO Shades of Barghast? Good times! We technically had eight pulls, but the first one Hads was afk outside the room (virtually & IRL) getting a peach smoothie (I wish I were joking) and the encounter was reset when he was targeted by the boss. Laughs were had by all. This makes 2/10H overall since we didn’t kill Hungering Destroyer after 5 pulls.

I have to admit, though, I didn’t think all these posts in the last seven days would happen. I say that because one of the more active, consistent people decided to leave the guild to play with some friends from WoW Classic. He went from not knowing if there would be a raid to clearing Castle Nathria on Normal in one day (not to mention a couple heroic bosses). How could I blame him? I wouldn’t (and don’t), but as the Jordan meme says:

I’ve always taken things personally, though, and I have to deal with it. This won’t be the last time someone quits the game or the group unexpectedly. It also won’t be the last time I take it personally. What I am doing is watching their new guild’s progress in Castle Nathria. They are now 6/10H (though he is only 2/10H… just like us). I have issues, man, ok?

Sire Denathrius. Normal.

10 out of 10 would be the official count for us on the Normalist of modes. This fight was weird y’all and we wiped four times because of it. Ok, ok… it’s not that it was weird so much as Nerv couldn’t figure out how to go through the mirror. GO INTO THE LIGHT CAROL ANNE. Thankfully Sanka & I focused our inner <Force of Will> to keep some adds from spawning.

A special thanks to everyone who has been consistent the last couple weeks. It’s been pretty fun to slay foes again. My hope is that it continues as we adjust to the additional difficulty. It would be fun to be a Sinbreaker before the next content release.

Stone Legion Generals. Normal.

This fight was a lot like the Sun King’s Salvation. We sort of talked about what we could remember from the guide and decided “aight let’s just pull once and see the mechanics for ourselves.”

One pull. One kill. Easy peasy.

Sludgefist. Normal.

One down, three to go. That is true for both the amount of posts I have to make this morning (go team) and also the number of times we have to fully clear up to Sludgefist on Normal before we can just farm the last bosses.

When Katnuss said Sludgefist & Stone Legion Generals (on Normal) were easier than some of the fights we had already completed, I have to admit I was skeptical. She was right, though. Since no one will ever really read this, I feel ok admitting that.

Three wipes, one kill. Interesting. My OCD is happy.

Side note and true story: we joked that Sanka & crew (on Illidan) should rename their guild Kinetic so our screenshots looked better. Katnuss said “I’ll do it for $20” and I couldn’t pull up Venmo fast enough. Now we just need to work on Sorcia…

Sun King’s Salvation. Normal.

Well, well, well… if it isn’t ole Kael’Thas. Maybe it was the PTSD from TBC talking, but I was not looking forward to this fight. Maybe the rest of the group thought the same. We got to the encounter and realized no one really knew anything about the fight. Like good little raiders, we took a few minutes to watch a video. Afterwards, we decided to just pull and see what happens. Learn on the fly. What could go wrong?

Turns out, nothing went wrong and we defeated the encounter. I feel like a WoW Classic raider! One pull, one kill. No wonder it’s so popular! Someone decided to jinx us ahead of going to The Council of Blood. Spoiler alert: there is not a follow-up post (this week at least) despite how well we all danced.

Shriekwing. Heroic.

Christmas came late for me. I had joked about going to do Shriekwing on Heroic for a couple weeks now for some ‘free’ 213 loot. It wasn’t as free as we expected, but still mostly free. As expected, the PUG we added to get to 10 (before we had some others join) got loot. Thanks Blizzard.

This kill marks the return of #TeamDekom as Truenoob finally joined the fun. It is also the return of Saji (Sajia) as a druid. If we could get a consistent group of folks we could probably do more of these things. Until then, we will continue the march through Normal as we are able to field groups.

Lady Inerva Darkvein. Normal.

To the surprise of all of us, this is not the simple zerg it is in LFR. We did finally get our first, very famous “Kinetic Kill” on this boss. We found the soft enrage and managed to eek out a kill. Sure the last 2-3% of the boss was mad chaotic, but it instantly reminded the old timers (myself especially) of many previous boss fights from Vanilla on.

This kill took us to 5/10 (also known as half way). Just in time for the holiday season. Happy Holidays y’all.

p.s. Not that Starbucs will ever see this, but thank you for realizing you weren’t playing well and logging. A+ accountability.
