Sludgefist. Normal.

One down, three to go. That is true for both the amount of posts I have to make this morning (go team) and also the number of times we have to fully clear up to Sludgefist on Normal before we can just farm the last bosses.

When Katnuss said Sludgefist & Stone Legion Generals (on Normal) were easier than some of the fights we had already completed, I have to admit I was skeptical. She was right, though. Since no one will ever really read this, I feel ok admitting that.

Three wipes, one kill. Interesting. My OCD is happy.

Side note and true story: we joked that Sanka & crew (on Illidan) should rename their guild Kinetic so our screenshots looked better. Katnuss said “I’ll do it for $20” and I couldn’t pull up Venmo fast enough. Now we just need to work on Sorcia…

Council of Blood. Normal.

Hurray – we qualify for another Great Vault reward due to being 7/10 Normal. In all seriousness (or at least somewhat serious), last night was a good night. We breezed through the first 6 bosses and tweaked this encounter to our liking. We went ahead and killed Heroic Shriekwing as a reward in advance of more progress tonight.

The biggest realization from the evening was that we don’t really need most of the loot that has been dropping from these bosses. The “skip mechanic” will be very welcomed after 4 Sludgefist kills as we begin to push Heroic… and dare I say… eventually… soonish… Mythic.

Casual in time only? Possibly becoming real.

Sun King’s Salvation. Normal.

Well, well, well… if it isn’t ole Kael’Thas. Maybe it was the PTSD from TBC talking, but I was not looking forward to this fight. Maybe the rest of the group thought the same. We got to the encounter and realized no one really knew anything about the fight. Like good little raiders, we took a few minutes to watch a video. Afterwards, we decided to just pull and see what happens. Learn on the fly. What could go wrong?

Turns out, nothing went wrong and we defeated the encounter. I feel like a WoW Classic raider! One pull, one kill. No wonder it’s so popular! Someone decided to jinx us ahead of going to The Council of Blood. Spoiler alert: there is not a follow-up post (this week at least) despite how well we all danced.

Lady Inerva Darkvein. Normal.

To the surprise of all of us, this is not the simple zerg it is in LFR. We did finally get our first, very famous “Kinetic Kill” on this boss. We found the soft enrage and managed to eek out a kill. Sure the last 2-3% of the boss was mad chaotic, but it instantly reminded the old timers (myself especially) of many previous boss fights from Vanilla on.

This kill took us to 5/10 (also known as half way). Just in time for the holiday season. Happy Holidays y’all.

p.s. Not that Starbucs will ever see this, but thank you for realizing you weren’t playing well and logging. A+ accountability.

Artificer Xy’Mox. Normal.

In a stunning turn of events, Sanka followed through for us (love you bro, no pause). He brought his merry band of nerds so we didn’t have to list our raid to the world. Thank goodness Blizzard enabled this high level of casualness that allows us to group with people on any US server.

The skeletons prove it took a little more time to tweak our portals, but we did it. Let the record show there was one pull where my warlock (Dycus) was top DPS. Mostly because I just happened to outlast everyone, but still… you should all be ashamed of yourselves.
